Plays in the Park ~ this is a poster series I designed as a project during my third year of school for my final portfolio. The assignment was to create posters for a small theatre group that would likely have to design these posters themselves, I imagined it would be a spin-off of these classic plays. I created the sponsor logo (corner cafe) along with a logo for the theatre group itself.

I had a blast with this project, this is where I really started to play with transparencies and overlays in Illustrator. I wanted it to look handmade-ish and have a cut-and-paste sort of style to it. 

I also wanted the typography to be really out-there (partly because I knew that's what the prof marking it would like hehe). I hand-wrote and scanned in most of the copy, but wanted the play titles to be much different and larger to draw attention to them. I used Baskerville but skewed the text to fit in with the illustrations. Baskerville is a classic, and classy, font and the contrast of it's elegance with the almost illegible stretching is a testament to the way the play itself would take something classic and make it different.
